Antique late Victorian to early Edwardian tea gown / wrapper dress, likely dating to the c. 1890s–early 1900s period. Exact date and maker are unknown. I have left it exactly as found due to its age and fragility.
By the 1890s, the mourning industry was enormous. First mourning demanded dull, non-reflective black fabrics — crape was the gold standard.
