This vintage Don Sayres for Wellmore dress is a classic and packs a retro punch of style. The knit dress -- in a size 10 -- offers a dark navy background with a thin pinstripe weave running vertically. The neckline is round with three embossed brass buttons at the shoulder. Two pockets cut on the vertical at the hip area. Pinstripes continue down the sleeves with bold decorative gold buttons at the wrist. This dress has back zipper. The dress is knee length, with a slim fitted profile for a sleek look. It is 75 percent wool, 25 percent rayon. Dry clean only. This dress was created by Don Sayres for Wellmore. Made in the USA, most likely in the 1990's. It was sourced at an estate sale specializing in mid century furniture, home decor and apparel. Don Sayres, the designer, said in an interview, "Knits are unto themselves and very often considered apart from other clothing. But knit are real clothes also....they can be very pretty, very chic and extremely serviceable. Women need clothes that can be rolled up in a ball and come out looking just fine."
