Stunning vintage dress by designer WILLIAM TRAVILLA. Tag size is 6, most vintage garments run small, measurements below. No fabric tag, a smooth crepe. ​Jet black, has the look of a jacket and wrap skirt. Asymmetric neckline is mirrored in the front wrap skirt hemline. Back zipper, small snaps on the sleeve opening, rubber panel on the shoulders as well as bra strap holders. There are two small front bones at the waist. Two were in back but one is missing. They could all be removed and not effect the look. A true piece of fashion history that looks just as stylish today. Vtg Designer WILLIAM TRAVILLA Black Mod Asymmetric 2-Layer Cocktail Dress~6=S Click images to enlarge Description         Many great clothing categories can be found in my store, including Vintage.  Note the free shipping on additional items and shop away!!       Stunning vintage dress by designer WILLIAM TRAVILLA.  Tag size is 6, most vintage garments run smaller than today's sizing, please check measurements provided below.  No fabric tag, looks and feels like a rayon or poly smooth crepe. ​Jet black, has the look of a jacket and  wrap skirt.  Asymmetric neckline is mirrored in the front wrap skirt hemline.  Long zipper in back for ease in dressing, small snaps on the sleeve opening,  rubber panel on the shoulders to keep in place, as well as bra strap holders.    There are two small front bones at the waist.  Two were in back but one is missing.  They could all be removed and not effect the look, and may be more comfortable.     A true piece of fashion history that looks just as stylish today....a classic to be sure.   William Travilla (1920-1990) began his career as a designer working in the movies during the 1940s. As a costume designer, he is probably remembered most for the designs he did for Marilyn Monroe, including the “subway grate” dress from The Seven Year Itch. In the early 1950s he began his own label, designing for the public as well as for the stars. He worked through the 1950s and 1960s, making elegant, but comfortable clothing. In 1970, he closed shop and moved to Spain, but resumed his label in 1977.
