Beautiful cardigan from my own collection. I wore this often in the 1990s. People talk about grunge incessantly as if it was all we wore back then, but my favorite 1990s fashion trend was what I just call "90s romantic". Long, flowy skirts (broomstick pleated often), and dresses--often empire waist, sometimes with a clip or sashes in back. Chintz florals and deep, muted colors. Lace up boots with chunky heels. Victorian looking jewelry with crystal or rhinestones, often in oxidized metal. And crochet--crochet skirts, vests, and cardigans. (Yes, this look is a relative of modern "Dark Academia.") Sarah Arizona was a lovely brand of the era, based in California, USA-made. This cardigan is half mohair but miraculously I could wear it, thanks to the soft acrylic blend. It's a M, and typical of the era, generously sized. Openwork/crochet look, with gently flared sleeves, beautiful scalloped hem, and tortoise-look big amber buttons. It's deep charcoal gray.
