DATING TO THE 1850’S FASHIONED OF A BUTTERSOFT WELL WASHED TAN LINEN WITH A MUTE POLKA DOT PRINT RUNNING THROUGHOUT. THIS PIECE IS FULLY SEWN BY HAND AND WAS ACQUIRED FROM THE ORIGINAL CENTRAL OHIO ESTATE. THE SLEEVES ARE SET FAR OFF THE SHOULDER WITH REINFORCED SLEEVES IN LINEN ON THE INTERIOR ON EACH SIDE ONLY. PIPED SEAMS WITH VERY FULL PUFF BISHOP SLEEVES HAVING A WIDE BAND CUFF AT THE BOTTOM. BAND COLLAR AT THE. NECKLINE WITH FLAT BELTING AT THE WAIST THAT IS REINFORCED ON THE INTERIOR IN LINEN. HIDDEN POCKET ON THE SIDE HAS AN OLD CALLING CARD FROM THE OWNER’S OF THE ESTATE WHICH IS CAME FROM. BOTTOM HEM IS FINISHED OFF IN LINEN ON THE INTERIOR. CONDITION: WHEN HELD TO LIGHT, THE FRONT SKIRTING HAS THREE PINHEAD HOLES THAT I PERSONALLY WOULD NEATLY MEND. LIGHT SPOT STAINING IS IN THE AREA OF THE HOLES AND IS BROWN IN COLOR WITH A DOUBLE THUMBPRINT OF A WATER STAIN JUST ASIDE THE BROWN STAINING. THERE ARE TWO HOLES ON THE WAISTBAND WITH TWO STAINS ON THE OPPOSITE FRONT WAISTBAND DUE TO THE HOOK AND EYES THAT ARE MISSING, ONCE REPLACED NONE THE WISER. A SMALL FIST SIZED AREA OF FADE IS ON THE FRONT RIGHT COLLAR. HOOK AND EYES ARE MISSING FROM EACH OF THE CUFFS WITH SMALL SPOTTING WHERE THEY WERE ONCE ATTACHED. SPOTTING SIMILAR TO THE SKIRTING IS SEEN ON EACH SLEEVE WITH A LINE OF BROWN ON THE REAR SIDE LEFT, VERY FAINT. SUCH A BEAUTIFUL, WEARABLE ANTIQUE 1850’S GOWN WITH SUCH IMPRESSIVE FULL BISHOP SLEEVES.
