I inherited from my mother (born in 1920) many lovely custom handmade pieces of silk lingerie. They were made in Italy in the 1940's and have beautiful detailed embroidery. Seams and hems are hand sewn.
The striation in the fabric indicates it's most likely silk shantung, or at the very least a blend. Faint lightening under arms, oxidation line on shoulder lining (Why hang a silk dress on a wire hanger?).
