Vintage MARTHA and DAVID HAYES Silk Cocktail Wedding Dress 4 Wedding? Easter?
Classic vintage cocktail dress from David Hayes, sold at that one-time doyenne of society boutiques, Martha of Park Avenue, New York, and Palm Beach. The background color is snowy white silk jacquard with a woven pattern of dots. The red print looks like flower petals wafting in a breeze. Bracelet-length sleeves. Red silk trim circles the neckline and continues down the front of a faux-wrap look, i.e. does NOT open. Decorative (non-functional) red buttons adorn the front and wrists. Covered back zip. Fully lined. Looser shift (not sheath) style, which makes it rather comfy. Shoulder pads. Made in USA. Please allow for any color display differences on different monitors - such are my photography skills. Condition: excellent previously owned condition. No stains, tears, weird smells, etc. It has been carefully stored in a smoke-free, pet-free home. I am just doing some kondo-style cleaning out, and I prefer to wear longer hems these days. Brand: DAVID HAYES, sold at the MARTHA boutique. Size on the label: 4, but vintage sizes often from today's. Please see exact measurements below for best fit guide. Good for a smallish lady, or a taller, slender lady who wants a tunic length. Fabric: 100% silk. Dry clean. MEASUREMENTS: these are the measurements of the actual garment, measured with the garment laying flat, i.e. double for bust, waist, hips. It is best to compare to a garment that fits you well of a similar fabric and style. I try my best. Shoulders at the top: 14" (The padding adds a little more on each side beyond.) Bust, armpit-to-armpit: 17" Waist: 15" Hips, measured straight across, about 8" down from the natural waist: 18" Sleeve, shoulder to hem/cuff: 20.5" Overall length: center-top of strap to hem: 33.5" TERMS: please ask any questions in advance of purchase as I DO NOT ACCEPT RETURNS. I try very hard to give an accurate description of the item the first time. PAYMENT: Paypal only, please. U.S. buyers only, please. I ship USPS with delivery confirmation within 48 hours of receipt of payment, often sooner. Any additional charges for international sales, such as additional customs, taxes, shipping, etc. are the responsibility of the buyer. Please note: I no longer offer "free shipping" but separate out this cost to the buyer. In 2022, the IRS vastly lowered the amount that sellers on third-party platforms (like eBay, Craig's List, Etsy, etc.) can earn without paying income tax. I'm okay with paying tax on real income, but not on selling the stuff I'm trying to clear out as a retired senior citizen (and already paid sales tax on!). So, to avoid paying income tax on shipping costs that would go right out the window to USPS, I specifically show what I ask the buyer to contribute to the shipping cost. This is often less than what I will pay USPS. The IRS postponed the reg for 2023, but we'll see what happens in 2024. Thanks for looking!
