This Vintage Jay Peterman hand embroidered caftan is a rare find from the 1980s, made in Morocco with 100% wool material. This dress is simply amazing! It is 100% silk organza with an attached nylon/acetate slip. It has beautiful pleating at the bust and shoulder and lace trim in just the right places. It has a full midi length skirt, wide accented waist and a perfect bow that accent’s the front.
The fitted tunic blouse has side zipper for fit, rounded neckline, keyhole back with hook and eye closure, flared sleeves, side openings, sleeves and hem sweep banded and edged in pink. Their history warrants nothing less.
Historically, I have acquired three. I am releasing this one. A definite homage to Erte’s art and sculptures, the elaborate sheath falls loosely to the ankles. Nothing is required underneath but attitude.

This insane cotton kaftan is embroidered in royal red and gold tone cotton rope ribbon. The side hems are also embellished with the same gold ribbon. Rounded caftan hem with arm holes. One size fits most. Length measures approximately 50 inches & measurement from pit to pit measures approximately 46 inches wide. Has an interior belt to cinch the waist. Embroidered cord shows some minor wear at the V-neck collar. Please see photo. last photo shows them with J Peterman vintage 1990 riding boots which are also for sale in my closet.
Pure silk georgette, chiffon-lined, in a muted tan, cream, and green floral print. V-neck front with six buttons and V-back with invisible zipper. High waist and fitted bodice. Below-calf length with 10-1/2" flounce at bottom.
If you own a long skirt, short skirt, full skirt, slim skirt, trouser skirt, full pants, slim pants, jeans, or shorts, you should also own this blouse. In Black, White, or Cream. (Or you may want to go ahead and have all three colors at the ready.).
This stunning caftan in black cotton is embellished with a hand-embroidered plaquet in red and yellow, and yellow embroidered piping on the seams and edges. Minor variations in the embroidered borders are characteristic of hand-work and add to the charm of this beautiful garment. It’s never been worn or displayed, and has been stored in a dry, smoke-free environment since its purchase in the 1980s-1990s. One size fits all. Laid flat, measures 48” across at the shoulders and 51” long.
