Vtg Exquisite 30's style bias cut floral chiffon tea dress w/ slip/ XS to S Color: Dress: Delicate beige chiffon background with floral rose print in pale orange, pink, and 2 shades of blue. A matching beige slip is separate but attaches to the shoulders via thread loops w/ tiny snaps. Slip is fully finishedand could be detached from dress and worn under other dresses. Dress is expertly made of bias cut chiffon panels seamed together creating a lovely fluttering skirt , fitted bodice and soft fluttery "sleeves" which are actually a ruffle attached at the shoulder. All seams are skillfully finished. I wish to emphasize that this fabric is extremely hard to work with as it is thin and slippery. It makes beautiful garments but requires expert sewing technique. Bias cut garments mold to the wearer's body in a very flattering manner, but they are difficult to measure because the bias stretches when it hangs from the shoulders and molds over the figure. This dress fits a size contemporary XS to Small / up to a size 4 or a small size 6 It is shown on a size 4 mannequin whose measurements are 36/ 26/ 36 and, as you can see fits "her" well, while also not being too tight for movement and comfort. It is best if bias cut dresses fit loosely and skim the body so there is no pull on the seams. I will say that this would fit the mannequins measurements and 2" smaller on all measurements: thus 34/ 24/ 34 and anything within these two ranges. Thus bust measurements 34 - 36, waists 24 - 26, hips 34 - 36. It will also work on smaller measurements - with a slightly looser fit that might require alterations. This type of dress is easy for a professional seamstress to alter . Length of dress is 50" from shoulder to hem. I do not recommend this dress for larger sizes than described above. Dry clean only. There is no designer label in this dress. There is, however a fabric care label inside the slip that says to dry clean only.
