Measurements are in inches unless otherwise stated: #23-102, 1916 Edwardian Silk & Gold Metallic Lace & Embroidery Evening Gown: It is so hard to find this period of gown in good condition. So many are made with such fragile silk fabrics that they have not stood the test of time. This Edwardian dinner or evening gown is made of black silk that is embroidered with gold lame threads. It has gold metallic lace over gold metallic fabric. The gold metallic does have age patina. The bust is 36, the waist is 26 inches and the hips will fit up to 46 inches. From the waist to the hem is 37 inches. The straps have been replaced with antique ribbons. The inner metallic layer has had some conservation. See photo. Some of the inner snaps have been replaced but most are original. The bodice is lined, the skirt never was. There is no underarm staining. There are some scattered holes on the bottom left side of the front skirt. See photo. it is not very noticeable. The dress has a very intricate side opening with different fabrics hooking and snapping in different ways. Remember when you are working with antique clothing never to pull the snaps open. It can cause fabric damage. Always use your finger nail to open the snaps. The side draping is incredible. The hat is from the same period but is not part of the sale. It is listed separately.
