Vintage 1940s black rayon dress with novelty print apron set. MEASUREMENTS (approximate): DRESS: Bust - 36" Waist - 30" Hips - 35 1/2" Length - 37 3/4" Sleeve (shoulder seam to end of cuff) - 19 1/2" APRON: Waist - 30" Length - 29 1/2" Black rayon dress with three-quarter length sleeves. Vogue Special Design label in the neck. The novelty print apron seems handmade. Both pieces have some flaws. The dress has a side metal zipper. There are several small holes and some pulls in the material. There are also a few spots of seam separation. The material has a shine to it in certain areas, possibly from an iron. The hem on the dress could be safely let down 2".  The apron has a button on each side. Red rick rack trim. Nice large pockets. The bow at the neck of the apron is the same material as the dress. There is a small hole on the back. One side near the button has a repair.  There is a spot of fading / discoloration on the bottom in the back. See photos for condition. A note on vintage clothing: I am not the original owner of these items, therefore I cannot guarantee their history. I am a non-smoker myself, but can't say the garment has never been around cigarette smoke or moth balls. While I would never list an item I find to have an offensive odor, I cannot ensure buyers (especially those very sensitive to odors) will feel the same as smell is subjective.
