This tag is from the late 1960s or the 1970s. Fabric is cotton barkcloth, which is a nubby non-woven fabric popular in this era for Hawaiian dresses. Beautiful blue and teal hibiscus floral print. Sleeveless. Maxi length of 51” from shoulder to hem with side slits on both sides of the hem about 15” long. Chest measures about 21” armpit to armpit. There is no size tag, but it measures at approximately a modern XL. However, please review measurements in the photos to ensure an accurate fit. Zips down the back. There are some slight brownish areas on the straps. I don’t know if that’s from the barkcloth or rust? See photos. Pictures don’t do this gorgeous dress justice!
THIS IS A LOVELY VTG 60'S HAWAIIAN HOSTESS DRESS FROM HUKILAU FASHIONS.
The skirt fabric appears to be barkcloth or cotton barkcloth (see photos for texture detail); bodice fabric differs and appears to be polyester or similar synthetic blend. A few light marks in the skirt which are visually hidden by the strong pattern.
Textured fabric. Nice bright print. Empire style with darts. Nice pleat down center front.
Ties in back and at neck. Gorgeous pink and purples. Probably handmade.
It’s not for the faint of heart. Fabric looks like barkcloth but is pretty lightweight. The dress is bright blue, green and purple with a mock neck, long sleeves, and a gathered knee length skirt, back TALON zipper.

Hello and welcome to my listing. For sale today is a vintage 1960's or early 70's Hawaiian bark cloth dress or muu muu by Liberty House Hawaii. It features flared short sleeves, a side pocket, a zipper down the front and 2 purple frog closures but the neckline. Perfect for a luau, tiki event, or pool/beach party. Size and fiber content label are missing, but it appears to be 100% cotton bark cloth. This dress is best for a size medium or large. Armpit to armpit flat measurement is 19.5".
